A dental bridge is a false tooth that is used to fill the gap created by a missing tooth or teeth. Gaps between the teeth can result in teeth shifting or changes in your bite that could be harmful to your oral health. Bridges help alleviate this by using the surrounding teeth as anchors holding the false tooth in place.
How it's done:
Typically two visits to Peyser Dentistry's Falls Church location will be needed to place the bridge. At your first appointment, we will first prepare the surrounding teeth to be fitted with crowns. This may include a filing down of the teeth so the crown can fit over it. Following that, impressions of the teeth will be taken and sent off to the lab to create the bridge and crowns. Finally, Dr. Peyser will fit you with a temporary bridge to protect your teeth in the interim.
At the second visit, the temporary bridge will be removed and the new bridge received from the laboratory is fitted and adjusted. Multiple visits may be necessary to check and adjust the fit.
